ETA Calculator

Estimate your arrival time from distance and speed, or project completion time from progress and rate.

Loading...
1. Choose your calculation mode: Distance/Speed for travel ETA estimates or Progress/Rate for task completion projections. 2. In Distance/Speed mode, enter the total distance to travel and your average speed, selecting the appropriate units (km, miles, km/h, mph), then set your departure time. 3. View the calculated travel duration and estimated arrival time displayed below, with the departure time defaulting to now unless you changed it. 4. In Progress/Rate mode, enter the total number of items in your batch, how many are completed so far, and the date and time you started working. 5. View the projected completion time, your current throughput rate per hour, and the progress percentage to monitor efficiency at a glance.

About This Tool

The ETA Calculator helps you answer the simple but essential question: "When will I get there?" or "When will this be done?" It operates in two modes. In Distance/Speed mode, enter the distance you need to travel and your speed, and the tool calculates the travel duration and your estimated arrival time based on a departure time you set. In Progress/Rate mode, enter the total number of items in a task, how many are completed, and when you started, and the tool calculates your throughput rate and projects when you will finish.

Distance/Speed mode is ideal for road trips, delivery estimates, flight planning, and any situation where you know how far you are going and how fast. It supports kilometers, miles, and meters for distance, and km/h, mph, and m/s for speed. The departure time defaults to now but can be adjusted for planning ahead.

Progress/Rate mode is perfect for batch processing, data migrations, manufacturing runs, or any repetitive task where you want to project a completion time based on observed throughput. Enter how many units you have processed since a given start time and the calculator extrapolates to estimate when the full batch will be done. It also shows your rate per hour and a progress percentage so you can monitor efficiency at a glance.

Frequently Asked Questions

It divides the distance by the speed to get the travel time, then adds that duration to your departure time. All unit conversions are handled automatically - you can mix kilometers with mph, for example, and get a correct result.
It is designed for any task where you are processing items over time - such as data migrations, file uploads, manufacturing batches, or study sessions. Enter how many items are done and when you started, and the tool projects when you will finish the remaining items based on your current rate.
The calculator uses a constant speed assumption. For real-world travel with stops, traffic, or varying terrain, treat the speed input as your average expected speed including stops. For more accuracy, reduce your speed estimate accordingly.
Yes. The departure time defaults to right now, but you can change it to any future date and time. The arrival time will be calculated relative to whatever departure you set.
The projection assumes your current processing rate stays constant. If your rate varies over time, the estimate will be approximate. For best accuracy, wait until you have completed at least 10-20% of the work so the rate has stabilized.
